Westover Girls, Beaver Boys Henderson County Champions!!!!

Under the bright lights of championship night, Westover’s girls stormed to glory behind the sure hand of Rowan Wilson, whose 18 points led a balanced attack to a 38–20 triumph over Pin Oak. The victors built steadily from a 20–14 halftime edge, their defense closing the door as Wilson and company sealed the crown.

In the boys’ final, Beaver’s rugged crew held firm against South Haven’s late charge. Madden Taylor’s 18 and Levyticus Green’s 13 anchored a 42–36 victory, the Hornet's early surge proving too steep a hill to climb. Two champions rose, each earning their moment beneath the tournament’s fading lights.

Tournament Opens: Lady Eagles, Lady Lions, and Lady Hawks Advance!

In the soft-lit hush of a Henderson County evening—where winter gathers its breath above the hardwood and the faint drum of anticipation rises from schoolhouse gyms—a familiar miracle unfolded once more. The Middle School Tournament, that small-town rite as enduring as a courthouse clock, swung open its gates at South Haven, drawing families, dreamers, and the bright-eyed hopefuls of tomorrow to its warm, echoing heart.

Three contests stood on the opening-night ledger, three chapters in the first stanza of a weeklong march, each streamed across the West TN Box Score channel for those scattered beyond the bleachers’ embrace. And in each game, another tale of courage and striving spilled across the varnished floor.

First came the Pin Oak Lady Eagles, broad of wing and sure of purpose, gliding past the challenge of the South Side Lady Mustangs. The Mustangs kicked up dust and heart in equal measure, but Pin Oak—steady as a hymn—rode their opening-night nerves into victory, establishing the tournament’s first footprint.

Then the Scotts Hill Lady Lions stepped forward, wearing the calm authority of a team accustomed to the hunt. Against the determined Lady Hornets, they found both sting and resistance yet answered each surge with claws sharpened. When the final horn sang out, it was the Lions who walked off with the spoils, their path onward cut in confident stride.

And finally, beneath the glow of the nightcap, the hosts took the stage. The South Haven Hawks, flying before their own faithful, met the spirited charge of the Bargerton Rebels. Here was the kind of game these county tournaments were born to showcase—young athletes trading bursts of brilliance while their towns leaned forward in unison. But the Hawks, lifted by the cheers swelling from their home nest, held fast in the waning moments, sealing the night with a win that sent the gym into a warm December roar.

Thus, the opening round closed—three victories, three exits, and a county gathering once more around its chosen winter pursuit. For in Henderson County, as in so many pockets of America where the light glows brightest on humble courts, basketball is not merely played. It is celebrated, inherited, and lived—one game, one cheer, one small-town miracle at a time.
