The Notion behind The Box Score was simple, almost sentimental—to tell stories and resurrect the old high school box scores of yesteryears, those quiet little monuments to competition and community. We tinkered a bit, borrowing information and scores from nearby colleges, just to see what some of the pages might look like. Turns out there was also some interest in these offerings. But with only Nathan and me covering college and high school, it was more than we could do. Each local college carries its own bright digital banner - Box scores, schedules, photographs, and live streams presented in an easy-to-use package. The trouble lies not in the content but in getting to it; one can fiddle a minute trying to find the page you're looking for. So, we gathered them all here on a single page. Click any icon, and you'll find yourself on that school's women's basketball page, a small but direct window into their world. And yes, we confess a certain Freed-Hardeman bias - Nathan and my father both walked its halls, and my daughter walks them now - this makes it all the more fitting that we let Grantland's Ghost focus on the local high school games. We hope these links help you find your way through the season's stories (only negative, you won't find Madrey on their pages lol). Thank you for stopping by—and God Bless!
Former JCS Standout Gibson Boykin Makes Return to Hardwood: Bethel Moves to 3-0
Friday, October 31 - McKenzie, TN
Under the soft October lights in Crisp Arena, where the echoes of sneakers and cheers mingle together to make the sweet music of the new season, Bethel's Lady Cats carved another victory into their young campaign -- defeating Johnson 77-58 to move to a pristine 3-0.
Yet the story that will linger longer than the numbers on the scoreboard is not one of conquest, but of courage, for this was the night Gibson Boykin -- once a star at JCS, then a casualty of fate-- returned to the hardwood after eight long months and five patient days of recovery from a torn ACL. In her first collegiate start, Boykin was more than a player; she was a symbol. Each stride spoke of grit and grace, of hours spent in silence and sweat. Though her Johnson team could not match Bethel's balanced fury, her very presence was a victory enough for those who know what it means to fight back from the edge of despair.
Bethel, meanwhile, played the game with the poise of a well-tuned orchestra. Micah Hart led the charge with 15 points, while Adalyn Koelling dropped 14, and Madison Hart added 11 more to the chorus. Around them swirled a steady supporting cast that kept the rhythm true from whistle to horn. Johnson's best came from Jadyn Cooper, whose 18 points flashed like lightning through the storm, but it was not enough to slow Bethel's relentless tide. When the final buzzer sang the loudest ovation may not have been for the victors, but for the fighter who refused to stay down. For on this night, basketball was more than a game. It was a testament. A poem written not in ink, but in heartbeats and hard work to get back on the hardwood.

Lady Lions Blast Off in Rocket City with Blowout Win Over Oakwood!
Saturday, October 25 - Huntsville, Ala
Well after dark the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions opened their 2025-26 campaign with a performance that shined much more like a brilliant dawn than a late night. With grace and fire in equal measure, they blew past Oakwood by a score of 83-48, a victory wrought from teamwork, precision, and relentless will.
Carissa Curtis shone like a northern star- her shot pure, her poise unshaken. She struck for 21 points, raining down seven three-pointers, each one tracing a golden arc through the gym's high rafters. Alongside her, Lilly Key was the quiet storm beneath the rim, a model of efficiency with 16 points on 8-9 shooting, her every move guided by steady hands and steady heart.
As the final buzzer echoed through a packed Oakwood gym, the Lady Lions stood tall -- their unity stronger than the scoreboard, their season's first step marked by excellence. On this night, their play sang the oldest hymn in the sport: that victory belongs not to the swift nor the strong alone, but to those who believe together and play as one.

On a night that started slow for the Lady Lions, it was the Satterly sisters who stepped up with a much needed spark, and led the team to 69-51 triumph over Blue Mountain. For a spell, the Lady Lions seemed caught in a fog. The basket was elusive, and offense seemed uncertain. But somewhere in the second quarter Freed found their rhythm and never looked back. Rachel Satterly led the way with 16 points, and her sister Jenna was right behind her contributing 14. Carissa Curtis continued her hot shooting going 4-5 from behind the arc, and Alaina Stiles put the game away with a 4 point play late in the fourth quarter. Freed-Hardeman moves to 2-0 on the season, and will test their metal this weekend at the UHSP Classic in St. Louis, MO.
